Healing wounds with merger will take time, money
It took twelve years to mend one of the greatest blunders in professional sports. Only the NHL's decision to go on strike may have been dumber. In 1995, Indy Car racing was the most popular form of American motorsports. Television ratings, attendance, sponsorship dollars and exposure were bigger in open wheel racing than they were in NASCAR. .
Miscalculations dogged Romney from the start
Charisma is always more important that experience in an elections. Experience in nuanced areas foreign policy of foreign policy will be left to the Brzezinskis and Kissingers of this word. What the USA needs is a change in public perception and from over here it looks like Obama is the only candidate who can provide that. Both McCain's and Hillary's past involvement in some pretty sleazy scandals will probably continue to haunt them. .

Bear with Us
When the Bears are trailing (as they often have this season), someone invariably asks, "Over? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" Then, someone invariably responds, "The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, idiot!" To the responders, please start by watching this clip, then continue by watching all of "Animal House." If you don't feel that it's worth your time, may Jordan have mercy on your soul. Now, on to Bears-Giants. They are the No. 3 and No. 1 in the NFL in sacks, respectively. Their quarterbacks are prone to costly turnovers. This should be um interesting. So now they face each other in Soldier Field for the first time since 2000, the year the Giants lost the Super Bowl. They face each other period for the first time since last season, the year the Bears lost the Super Bowl.
Double delight for Totti keeps Roma in title hunt
Returning Roma talisman Francesco Totti scored a brace to earn the capital-based club a 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico Saturday and keep his side in the Serie A title chase. Second place Roma closed the gap on leader Inter Milan to just four points. Totti was making his second injury comeback of the season having missed last week's disappointing 0-0 draw at Torino and he proved he was back to his best with a crucial double, the first a cute finish from the penalty spot. "I wanted to finish 2007 in a big way. I'm happy and I want to thank my teammates who let me take the penalty and set me up at the end," he told Sky Sport. "It was difficult spending two months on the sidelines because I was playing really well before that," added Totti. "The championship? It's a marathon; we won't make the same mistakes as last year when we finished 20 points back (from Inter).
Citizenship applicants fear delays imperil vote
For the 25 Hispanic immigrants taking a citizenship class Tuesday evening in downtown Houston, voting is a fundamental right they hope to gain. The students, attending the nonprofit Houston International University inside a shopping center, answered enthusiastically as their instructor quizzed them on American history and civics topics they must know to pass a citizenship test. They are part of an unprecedented nationwide surge of 1.4 million legal immigrants who applied for U.S. citizenship in the 2007 fiscal year. But now many of those immigrants fear a bureaucratic backlog may prevent them from becoming citizens in time to vote in this year's presidential elections. ''Maybe if I pass the exam and become a citizen, I can vote," said Antonia Landeros, a 38-year-old Mexican immigrant who works for a Houston janitorial firm.
