Lawyer: Japan Should Avoid Slay Case
Given that this case has been closed in Japan, the Justice Ministry and Japanese police should no longer have to respond to requests from the police for evidence or to cooperate with the investigation," said Miuri's lawyer, Shinichiro Hironaka. Miura and his wife were visiting Los Angeles on Nov. 18, 1981, when they were shot in a parking lot. Miura was hit in the right leg, while his 28-year-old wife was shot in the head. The shooting caused an international uproar, in part because he blamed the attack on robbers, reinforcing Japanese perceptions of America as violent. The arrest came after cold-case detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department worked with authorities in Saipan and in Guam, police said in a statement. Police did not make details on the arrest available.

Magpies rubbish Beckham talk
Newcastle have dismissed reports linking David Beckham with a move to St James' Park. Kevin Keegan replaced Sam Allardyce as Magpies manager last week and is now looking to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window. A number of high-profile names have already been linked with moves to Newcastle and speculation has suggested that Beckham was one of those firmly in Keegan's sights. The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has been training with Arsenal in recent weeks during the Major League Soccer off-season. He played under Keegan for England and it was reported that Newcastle were lining up a short-term deal for him. However, Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has rubbished the story.

Liverpool 2-2 Aston Villa
You see, in January 2007 banter on the Kop was much to do with DIC's impending bid for the club, and how season hopes of a potential title challenge, would instead have to be channelled into cup success after another mediocre first half of the season. There was hope, rather than anger and desperation quivering through the Anfield air back then though. .
Curtis backs stroll down quality street
O'Neill has only 23 players at his disposal, including three goalkeepers, but only signed midfielder Wayne Routledge for a cut-price 1.25million from Tottenham in January and off-loaded defender Gary Cahill to Bolton. The Northern Irishman has come in for criticism during local radio phone-ins for being unable to make additional signings. But Davies believes O'Neill is correct in not signing players just for the sake of it. He said: "It's not just about getting numbers up - it is about quality. "Because we have got one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, people may have expected us to sign a few more players but the gaffer knows what he is doing. "He likes to make shrewd signings rather than lots of signings and hopefully it will work out for us and we can get by without any injuries or suspensions." O'Neill has admitted he may revive his interest in the future in signing United States goalkeeper Brad Guzan after failing to obtain a work permit last month.
