Whatever else it is, TT is not cricket

Television loves it for the ratings. Administrators love it because television loves it. Players love it for the money — fistfuls of it.

TT's bursting out all over. A World Cup already. An interstate competition here, regional comps in England, South Africa and the West Indies. Two in India, perhaps three.

They're only half-formed, half-sanctioned, making rules and regulations on the run, but, well, heh? Short form, see. Much better.

Besides, it's flourishing in India, and don't we all love India. Cultural misunderstanding? Press beat-up. Horrid Harbhajan Singh? Some of our best friends wear turbans, we suddenly remember.

The only part of TT that all these hyper-excited folk can take or leave is the cricket.

The players don't like it; they've said so.

Extra! UIdaho Student Found Shot to Death

I had avoided doing so because I had heard getting into the show required great dedication and frankly, I didn't think i had the time. I have since purchased the first three seasons, having watched the first two seasons in less than two weeks time. I am half way through the 3rd season and not looking back. My question for the forum: do you watch this show? Do you find it as thrilling, exciting and thought provoking as I do? Jack Bauer for president '08? I really need to know if I am alone with this as my sleep pattern has been significantly altered since becoming a "24 freak"?! Also, I figured this show may be popular with the HBO crowd so advice from you regulars is much appreciated!

Almonte: ‘Responding to a Moral Crisis’

And if we had to pay the ultimate price of failure, we were to make no unnecessary sound or movement, to ensure the nobility of our intentions was undiminished.

Of the three senior leaders of RAM, Batac, who was then chief of research and analysis office of the Intelligence Division of the PC/INP, was the strategist, the planner-intellectual; Kapunan the organization man, with wideranging contacts among the field commands. Honasan, baron of his class, the charismatic fighting man, was the movement's leader.

Eventually, the three told me what they planned. They would ambush Gen. Roland Pattugalan, commander of the Presidential Guards, whom Marcos was touting as his next chief of staff. Since Gen. Josephus Ramas, the Army commander, also coveted the post (which Marcos's henchman, Gen.

CMA AWARDS: Vince Gill's 4-disc masterwork could be surprise winner ...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ When it comes to surprises, the Country Music Association Awards usually don't have much to offer. But even the staid CMA is good for the occasional twist or two, and this year's best bet might be Vince Gill, who's nominated for album of the year for his ambitious four-disc set, "These Days."The awards are scheduled for Wednesday night in Nashville; ABC is to broadcast them live.Gill wrote or co-wrote all the albums' 43 tracks, co-produced them, sang, played guitars and assembled a dream team of guests including Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Alison Krauss and Emmylou Harris."These Days" earned Gill rave reviews and will certainly go down as a creative peak in his career, but it sold modestly and received scant radio airplay compared to its competitors: Brad Paisley "5th Gear," George Strait's "It Just Comes Natural," Keith Urban's "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing" and Dierks Bentley's "Long Trip Alone."Even though it's been a while since Gill has been a country hitmaker, he's well-respected in the industry and could surprise.

POZZATO WINS Photo Fotoreporter Sirotti

What should have a been a build-up race for the Classica di Primavera, what should have been a good chance to test his skills as helper (of a teammate like the sprinter Claudio Corioni ...), turned into a first occasion to stamp his authority and send an unmistakable message to all other Spring Classic contenders.
